Lord Ganesha brings peace and protection with him. Moreover, this festival unites families and communities in prayers and celebrations. From setting up pandals to preparing modaks, the entire process is filled with devotion and happiness.

Lord Ganesha is worshipped before starting anything new whether it’s a job, a home or anything. Basically it represents beginnings and wisdom. Spiritually it teaches us some lessons such as stay grounded and elephant head and large ears means listen more and talk less.

Story of Lord Ganesha’s Birth

According to the hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha out of the turmeric paste from her body. She then put life into him and asked him to guard her while she went for a bath. When Lord Shiva who’s the husband of Goddess Parvati returned, Ganesha stopped him at the door. He didn’t know who Lord Shiva was.

In anger Lord Shiva beheaded Lord Ganesha. When Goddess Parvati came to know this she got heartbroken. She then demanded her son to be brought back to life anyhow. Later, Lord Shiva realised his mistake and promised Goddess Parvati that he would bring Ganesha back to life. Lord Shiva then instructed his followers to bring the head of the first creature they saw, which was an elephant.

Thus Lord Ganesha was reborn with the head of an elephant and was granted the status of being worshipped first among all gods. This story teaches us so many lessons, such as about duty, forgiveness, and the importance of respecting our parents.

Community Celebrations and Unity

Ganesh Chaturthi is also a time when so many communities come together. In many towns and cities, large pandals are set up. People then visit these pandals and pray, offer flowers and garlands, and celebrate the moments. You will often find music and dance performances, bhajans, skits about Ganesha and food stalls, and charity events.
